of Hips and Backs

This is a great hip opener, legs in full lotus pose. The pose looks simple, however, it requires good balance, strong core to hold the legs close to the body & flexibility to have your arms in front of the legs. Some warms up pose before getting into this pose as below:-

You could also do the pigeon pose or the cradle, which I like or whichever pose that you favour that opens up your hips.

Ouch, ouch, ouch!

Before attempting to do the Bow pose, we had to warm up our spine, hence the flexibility. The warm up poses includes camel pose to open up the back, single leg lifts (1 legged bow pose, with opposite hand holding the leg.). But then of course, perfection in the pose is important to Felix that he had to pull our legs to the back as we aren't strong enough to kick our legs to the back to help us raise our body higher. Gosh, it hurts, and I was just holding back my facial expression as I know pics are being taken.

I would say that her bow pose is beautiful. But wait till you scroll down further to see Felix, the rubber man.

Rubber man showing off to us, LOL.

Classes for the week

When I have been yoga-ing consistently, the body & mind is somewhat rejuvenated & I simply feel great, whether its just the thought that I am treating my body well by giving it a twist & turn or just some stretch & lubricating the joints & nourishing my internal organs.

Lately, as I was out of action, it has been tough for the body & mind. I felt lethargic & as much as I dragged myself to the gym & lost 2 kgs during the 3 wks period, I didn't feel the effect that yoga has given me. It was tough, I am feeling lazy, my body is tired, my mind is feeling mundane!!!! Please... if you have the time, place & chance, never ever stop yoga-ing.

Therefore, I have arranged for classes again.

1) Friday (9/1/09)

Class : whatever for beginners.

Instructor : Felix

Time : 4.15pm-5.30pm

2) Sunday (11/1/09)

Class : Gentle Flow

Instructor : Felix

Time : 10.00am-11.15am

Let me explain, what is a "whatever for beginners". Recently, there has been only 2 gals practicing with Felix in the mid afternoon & since, she's a beginner,we've been practicing the proper way to all the warriors, cobra & opening of the hips, shoulder & even how to sit with the tail bone properly rested to the floor, doing the split on the wall, etc. This is beginners' class, but I would think it is rather intensive as we only concentrate on 1 or 2 poses for the day, till we get it right. So, those any of you that need some intensive whatever for beginners, please do not hesitate to join the class. However, I would like to keep it to a max of 4 pax.

Back Care Awareness at Sun Yoga, KL

Our Backbone is vital and is really doing so much wonderful things. however most of us is taking it for granted until we feel the pain, don't we admit that?

This workshop will let you understand the work of your spine, including the muscles around it (it includes drawing on your back too!), and how to make it healthy and young holistically....so why wait, sign up now and bring your friends and family too so they can be as healthy as you!

Come and try with Joanna Kraft at Sun Yoga, KL. Walking is never boring! That’s the answer you’ll get if you ask Joanna Kraft what her favorite pastime is. Being born and raised in a small town in Finland, Joanna moved with husband and cat to KL two years ago leaving job, family and friends behind. After having worked as a tv- and radio host for the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) as well as a LesMills (BodyStep, BodyBalance & BodyPump)- and spinning instructor at Finland’s biggest gym for many years, Joanna took the opportunity of being abroad to expand her horizon. She’s the editor-in-chief for the Finnish community’s own magazine and she has also done the 200-hour ttc at SunYoga. Besides walking Joanna loves cats, friends and reading. She thinks that yoga is a great way to live and experience oneself. Yoga is really for everybody because ultimately we listen to what our bodies tell us and cater our practice according to our needs.

Who should attend:-
1) Those who works long hours in the office. Never getting stretched...
2) Those who is constantly on the computer. Don't you feel your shoulders ache?
3) Those who is driving most of the time.
