Acroyoga Workshop with Marc Bauchet 24/4/10- 25/4/10

The experience was mind blowing for me as it was my first time trying out Acroyoga or anything acrobatic. Since young, I have been intrigued by the acrobatics and the gymnastics and has always wondered what it felt like to be up there, being twisted or held by another's without having much control of the situation but just to trust the other person that they know what they are doing.

Well, for most of us, it was our first time in Acroyoga. Therefore, none of us had any experience flying or being a base person. I had the first opportunity to fly with Marc just before the workshop began, and honestly, I felt liberated! I felt at peace and free. Not worrying if I would fall, but that is probably because Marc was my base (the person at the bottom) I was surprised that I was able to do some of the poses I never thought I could do and it was the best experience. I tried all roles, flying, base and spotter (the person standing by the side as the safety net). I enjoyed flying more as i felt free like a bird and my mind and body free to flow. To be the base person, you need to have 100% concentration as you will have to support the weight of the flyer, balance him/her and also to co-ordinate the movements. Flying Marc weight like a tan the first time, however, with more practice, it got easier.

Whilst Marc is still in town, we are solidifying our practice by the poolside. Here are some pictures to share with you.

Acroyoga Workshop with Marc Bauchet 24/4/10- 25/4/10

The Practice

AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form this practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. There are 7 main elements that make up the practice: circle ceremony, asana, partner flow, Thai massage, therapeutic flying, inversions & spotting, and partner acrobatics. Our highest aim is to bring individuals into a state of union with themselves, with each other. From this place of mutual support the true self can be realized, celebrated and shared for the benefit of all.

Workshop with Marc Bauchet

A playful, safe and supportive environment that will empower the whole room to be upside down and connect.

1.30pm - 4.30pm - Therapeutic Flying

Take Thai Massage into the air flying (lifting a person in the air), utilizes gravity to release and open the flyer's spine whilst grounding and empowering the base. Enjoy the healing - the nectar of Acroyoga aka Anti-Gravitational Spinal Elongation.

Acroyoga is Coming to KL

If you have not heard or don't know what Acroyoga is all about, here are some pictures to tease your mind. Juggle your thoughts and imagine what our body can do.....

YinYangYoga will be bringing Acroyoga to Kuala Lumpur to share with all you the art of the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics.

The story behind the birth of Acroyoga

On December 19, 2003 Jenny & Jason met through a common friend in San Francisco, after having heard much about each other for months. After the party Jenny flew Jason in a Contact Yoga (therapeutic flying) sequence, then Jason held Jenny in a handstand on his hands. This first play session sparked the fire that is now AcroYoga! Inspired by their complimentary backgrounds, and the immediate ease and joy with which they collaborated, they stayed up until 5am dreaming about a partner practice built on their collective experiences. They laid the foundation upon which AcroYoga is built in that night, and started teaching a Partner Doubles class at the Circus Center of San Francisco in January of 2004. Their first event in the yoga world was a sold out Vanetine's Day workshop at Yoga Tree the next month.

Stay tuned for more news... when & where it is going to be held :)
