Acroyoga Workshop with Marc Bauchet 24/4/10- 25/4/10

The experience was mind blowing for me as it was my first time trying out Acroyoga or anything acrobatic. Since young, I have been intrigued by the acrobatics and the gymnastics and has always wondered what it felt like to be up there, being twisted or held by another's without having much control of the situation but just to trust the other person that they know what they are doing.

Well, for most of us, it was our first time in Acroyoga. Therefore, none of us had any experience flying or being a base person. I had the first opportunity to fly with Marc just before the workshop began, and honestly, I felt liberated! I felt at peace and free. Not worrying if I would fall, but that is probably because Marc was my base (the person at the bottom) I was surprised that I was able to do some of the poses I never thought I could do and it was the best experience. I tried all roles, flying, base and spotter (the person standing by the side as the safety net). I enjoyed flying more as i felt free like a bird and my mind and body free to flow. To be the base person, you need to have 100% concentration as you will have to support the weight of the flyer, balance him/her and also to co-ordinate the movements. Flying Marc weight like a tan the first time, however, with more practice, it got easier.

Whilst Marc is still in town, we are solidifying our practice by the poolside. Here are some pictures to share with you.

Acroyoga Workshop with Marc Bauchet 24/4/10- 25/4/10

The Practice

AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form this practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. There are 7 main elements that make up the practice: circle ceremony, asana, partner flow, Thai massage, therapeutic flying, inversions & spotting, and partner acrobatics. Our highest aim is to bring individuals into a state of union with themselves, with each other. From this place of mutual support the true self can be realized, celebrated and shared for the benefit of all.

Acroyoga is Coming to KL

If you have not heard or don't know what Acroyoga is all about, here are some pictures to tease your mind. Juggle your thoughts and imagine what our body can do.....

YinYangYoga will be bringing Acroyoga to Kuala Lumpur to share with all you the art of the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics.

The story behind the birth of Acroyoga

On December 19, 2003 Jenny & Jason met through a common friend in San Francisco, after having heard much about each other for months. After the party Jenny flew Jason in a Contact Yoga (therapeutic flying) sequence, then Jason held Jenny in a handstand on his hands. This first play session sparked the fire that is now AcroYoga! Inspired by their complimentary backgrounds, and the immediate ease and joy with which they collaborated, they stayed up until 5am dreaming about a partner practice built on their collective experiences. They laid the foundation upon which AcroYoga is built in that night, and started teaching a Partner Doubles class at the Circus Center of San Francisco in January of 2004. Their first event in the yoga world was a sold out Vanetine's Day workshop at Yoga Tree the next month.

Stay tuned for more news... when & where it is going to be held :)

I am loving LULULEMON

I am not being bias when I say I am loving Lululemons. Its unbelievable!!! I left my Power Y Tank unwashed for 9 days, tomorrow will be its 10th day. The 1st day, it was drenched with my sweat & of course, it smells sweaty, just like yours!!!. Left it in the laundry basket for 2 days, then brought it out to air by just hanging it on the hanger.

Today is the 9th day and I had to brave myself by sniffing it. I sniffed it deep & close, LOL. Well, I got to make sure that its as close as it gets. To my amazement, the sweaty smell has disappear into thin air, & it actually smells like I have just washed it!!! How is that even possible, I asked myself. I had to get another opinion, & yes, it does smell like it has just been washed!

Therefore, I conclude that Lululemon is truly anti-stink. If you don't believe me, just try it out! I might be brave enough to actually wear the unwashed tank top for my yoga session tomorrow evening. I probably should put it to the ultimate test!

LULULEMON - The Anti-Stink Test

When I asked most of the Lululemon regulars, "why do you pay so much for a Lululemon'?. The answers were "it lasts for years", "the colour doesn't fade-out", the tanks and tights does not get out of shape", it retains its shape even after machine wash", "it does not stink even after years", "it does not stink even when you leave it overnight in the bag after yoga/run".

However, the most important feedback to me was "it doesn't not stink with sweat" even after years of wearing it. I have worn brands like the most popular "Nightky", "Ribok", "Puhma", "Elllllle" and even "Eeeego Fit" (very uncomfortable bra top) and I find that after 1 year or so, they begin to smell of sweat even before you actually sweat in them!!! I do feel kinda embarrass when the teacher walks to me to align me, "can he smell me"???

Of course, without hesitation, I bought Lululemons to wear. It not only comes in beautiful colours, design and material. It is actually very flattering to the body, accentuating at the right places. However, my only regret was I bought my tank top a size up, though it holds well, it does shift a little when I twist & hangs out a little when i am in downward dog (but not exposing anything!!!) Therefore, please refer to the size chart and get your size right.

Back to the Anti-Stink test. After a hot afternoon of gentle flow (felt more like a flow, when you start dripping with sweat within 3 minutes). I decided not to wipe my sweat, to a point I felt I was in a sauna, drenched. Left it drenched in my bag for a day, could smell my sweat (ok, you probably going ewwww... ) and its been in my laundry basket for 5 days now. Surprisingly, on the 4th day, I did the stink test! Sniff it, & surprisingly, the "smell" is gone? how???? evaporated?? possible.... but where's the sweat smell??? I plan to leave it unwashed for 7-8 days.

Reason for the test? I am selling them, I got to believe their tag-line to be true!! Can't comment about the colour stay, till much later. Shape retained after several wash, but its too early to know.

Get the Luon or Luon light or the Run Tech material. The organic cotton rib legging is too thick for our tropical climate.
